Good Ol' Summertime Mini Quilt Swap

This is the mini quilt from Good Ol' Summertime Mini Quilt Swap that I made for Sara from mysewingroomsara. Sara said she loved brights so I sure hope she likes this mini quilt. I did like making it. This is the first swap that I have participated in. I do believe I will do another swap. This is the mini quilt that I received from Bonita in Kentucky. I absolutely love this quilt. I had said "I love black and white and have been loving yellow lately." She made the perfect quilt from that.

This is another display at The Movie Star....a local restaurant in Purvis, Ms.The food is good and I love looking at the antiques. They had a white featherweight...it was only easy to leave it because it had no case.
We attended a get together at my Dad's...to meet his new wife and her family. We had a good time. It was hot as hell. I got to see all of my sisters and brothers. Plus my dad's brothers, their wives and His Mother....my Nannie. It was so worth the heat to see my family.

Scrap Quilts by Edith

This is a scrap quilt that I quilted for one of my customers. It is 82"x82".....this one had a small amount of unsewing. It took me 10 minutes to sew and 6 hours to unsew.

This is the second scrap quilt by the same customer. I loved the border with one narrow green, wider blue and a third wider blue border. I delivered them today and she loved them....that makes me feel good about quilting.

Here is Lizzy Lou

This is my new quilter a TinLizzy18. I have named her Lizzy Lou. This is the first thing I quilted.

This is Wonky Charm Stars....It is based on a quilt block pattern I found on the Internet. This is the first quilt that I had to come up with how to place the blocks and the borders. It is so much easier when you have a pattern with all the directions. I do love how it turned out.

We had a wonderful time in Vegas...It is the town that never sleeps. We were up 22 hours the first day we got there. No sleep for us ....we wanted to do everything. This is Moma in front of one quilt store. Yes Vegas has quilt shops. Four are in the valley and this on is in Boulder City(I think that is the name of town) We took a 5 Shop Hop.The quilt shops were so nice.
You know I had to get a pic of this...the food was very good. Plus the were open after 10 pm.

Sorry the pic needs flipping and not sure how. This is Me, my Moma,Susan (how great tour guide) and Edith our new friend and Richard her husband was our photographer.

Snow in The Carolinas

This is me out taking pictures...with no make-up. I am sick with some kind of bad cold, this cold air is helping me get well. I have never thought I looked like my Mom,but I do in this picture. I love you Mom!!! I started my blog for my Mom to be able to see my quilts and anything else that she needed to see. This my new baby.....a MINI COOPER. I traded my Yarius on Saturday,I loved that car ,but wanted power windows....I was going to get another one,but Gary said "pick something else." I did what he wanted.Joni says it is a clown car. I have to say I love it already even though it has been in the driveway since Saturday because of all the rain and snow.
Kitty did not like the snow...Sasha really did not like it see her in the door. Sasha is my grandpup.

Scooby loved the snow. You would have thought him and Toby were two kids playing in the snow. See the snow on his face.

Toby, my other grandpup had a great time. He had to be made to come inside. He is covered with snow......from running and playing in it.

My front yard and the neighbor's house.

Out back of the house.

This was the view out the french doors this morning. We got between 3-5 inches of snow last nite.

This was the view when I went to bed last nite. It was beautiful while it was snowing. This morning was so bright and white....then it melts and becomes a huge mess.I need to get off here Gary has cooked chili Frito's for us tonite. I was going to cook, but he thought I would get everyone sick.

Quilty Things

This is the latest Prayer Quilt that I have made. You may remember the 2 that were made last year for the precious little girl babies, Reagan and Taylor. We have another baby girl born early. Christianna is the owner of this quilt....does it not scream baby girl. I have to say I love this quilt even though we all know I love bright colors. The pattern came out of the latest issue of Quilt ..Garden Gate Splendor is the pattern. I always want to make at least 2 or 3 in each issue. Maybe baby quilt size is the answer. It is washed and ready to go to the hospital.

This is Fresh Linens for an up coming class. This is a fun quilt made with charm packs and a jellyroll. The pattern is by Heather Mulder Peterson of Anka's Trasures. She is one of my favs.
Close up of the quilting.

I quilted this for a customer. I also put the binding on this ,but have no pic of that.

This is another one that I quilted for a customer. I always love Black and White quilts.

This is my new bible cover made completely of scraps.I just pieced odd sized pieces together and this is the result. I have to say it turned out very good.

Dresdan Bloom Class

This was a class that I taught a few weeks ago. This is the Dresdan Bloom pattern, you may remember the sample a few months ago. I love to see all the combinations of colors. That is my favorite part of a class. Seeing how different every one's looks. The girls had a great time. The black background gives this one an artsie look.
The purple and yellow on the calico background gives this an 30's feel.

I loved the 2 colors in this one. This is a very girlie dresdan.

This one is one of my favorites.....I cannot lie I wanted all of them to go home with me. For some reason this was not an option....for the life of me I do not know why.

The Beach in January

This was the view from our balcony on Saturday morning. It was gorgeous. This was the second picture I took. It was so peaceful. It looks like it was going to be a warm day at the beach....it was windy and freezing.
This is Joni, Tanya and me. We are out shopping while the guys golf. Robin is taking the pic.

This is at the DISNEY store....you know how I love Mickey.

This was in the candy store. That is gumballs in the bottom of the table.

Strip Search

Here is the Strip Search Quilt. I loved making this quilt. It took 1 noodle(Hancock's version of a jellyroll) or 39 2 1/2" strips. I did learn a lesson....no more precut strips from Hancock's. I love the colors, but this roll was 2 1/4" strips. I had to change the pattern to make it work. Instead of 10 1/2" and 12 1/2" squares, I cut 8 1/2" and 10 1/2" squares. It still is a beautiful quilt. The back is strip pieced. I hate dealing with large pieces of fabric. Plus it uses up fabric that I wonder what was I thinking.
Here is a block made out of the right size strips. This will give my students an idea of the true size of the block. It is totally made from strips that are in my scraps strips. I cut strips from all the remaining fabric when cutting out quilts and have them ready for projects.

Koozies made from headliner fabric. I have to say these are easy and useful. I also have Modern Art With Fabric top is finished and hanging at the Sewingly Yours. After my class in February I will bring it home and quilt it.I forgot to take pictures. I will take a picture next time I go.

The Holidays Have Begun!

College is over for the fall semester. I am so glad...I made it thru with all A's. Gary said it was because I am a suck up.....I am very pleased with my first full-time semester. Soooo glad it is over. I have been so busy lately.I bet you all have been wondering what has Silly Woman been up to? Well I have had a busy few weeks. I got to go home for Thanksgiving, it had been 16 years since I was home. It was good.I did miss my youngest Daughter, She had to work. Here is a picture of my two oldest nephews. This was just to funny.....Here is the Dresden Bloom quilt. I got it quilted and took it to Sewingly Yours.I am very pleased with the way it turned out. It is one of my favorite quilts that I have made.

I have also quilted another quilt for a customer. It turned out great and the customer was happy with the way it turned out. That is all the sewing that has taken place in the last month. I do plan on sewing a lot in the next couple of weeks. I need to get 3 quilts finished for the shop. Well that is all for now...I have some shopping to do before the holidays.

Quilty Things Stuff From the Last 2Weeks

You may remember this quilt top from this summer. I finally added the borders. This is Dresden Bloom. I love this quilt, it is my first attempt at machine applique. I need to get it quilted.
This the BOM block that I got done. We only have 3 more blocks to go. I have to say this year has been more to my kind of blocks to do. I am not one to work on 1 block for 6 hours. That is how long it took me on last year's BOM.

This is the largest quilt that has been done on my quilt frame. It was 96x105. I told my customer that I wanted to keep it.LOL She loved it.I also quilted 2 pieces for pillow shams. This was her first quilt. I think she did an awesome job.

This is a close-up of the quilting. I enjoyed getting to do a little quilting, with all the school work I have very little time to quilt. I am getting better at getting to quilt a little more. College has been a big adjustment for me. I do have good grades, but it is with lots of hard work. The next few weeks will be tough, but I am ready .....as I will ever be..Lol

Panthers beat the Saints

We had such a great time at the game. We could not have had any better weather. Did I mention they WON!
Tanya striking a pose in my panthers' ears.

Even Jd had to wear them. I loved wearing them. Gary did not like them.

Gary and I enjoying the game. I'm not that big of a fan,but do enjoy going to at least one game a season.Last Thanksgiving weekend we went and watched the saints beat the panthers in cold, rainy weather. This was a much better game.

This is newly weds and me. Hey I think I might finally look like I have lost weight!!!!!

This is the quilt I made for my brother and his new bride, Trish for their wedding. We went to Mississippi the first weekend of October for the wedding. We had such a good time even though it was just for the weekend. My girls and all my family were together for the wedding. It had been 10 years since we were all together.

Crazy Curves Class in September

These ladies took my Crazy Curves class in September. They each did a great job of picking out colors and sewing curves. We had a good time. I have not got much sewing done in the last 2 months, so I enjoyed teaching a class. This was a one day class. I am getting a little sewing time these days. I had to start sewing so that I could relax from all the stress of school. I am doing better at not being so stressed as it was making me sick.
Sometimes you have to say " I am not perfect and it is okay" School has been better since discovering this principle. Some times it is the letting go that helps.
