Waiting

I'm waiting for my grade to be posted!! I've checked at the very least 10 times. Sounds like an algebra problem?(LOL) I do believe I'm beginning to grasp the concept. I hope since a passing grade is what I need. To take the classes in the fall this class is required.today Zack and I are off to LQS.He was bribed,he wants to go to Bass Pro. Need a break, going there and to Concord Mills. What relieves stress like shopping.
Tomorrow is the big trip.White Water rafting, not something I like. Gary,Joni, and Zack are so excited.Tanya has to work,so convenient! She did not want go anyway.Zack can't wait!He will be going home next weekend,he has been alot of fun to have around.I wonder who else will come for a visit before summer is over.

Pickety Sticks Class Quilts

Toni did a great job, this was her first quilt..........Brenda and Rebbecca did wonderful jobs also. They are teachers at Sewingly Yours. This was just pictures of 3 of the 8 quilts, you know how summer vacations cause people to not attend all classes. I do hope to get pictures of the rest.

I've found I do love teaching ,I believe it is because I love sharing my love of quilting. You may notice all three quilts are different sizes, some wanted larger sizes.

Life in the fast Lane

I've been so busy lately.Last Saturday we went to Atlanta to pick up Zack, he seems to be having a good time. Sunday was our normal busy Sunday. On Monday I started my college classes. It seems like every day something has happened or been going on.I've had taught 2 classes this week,Crazy Curves last class was Monday and Pickety Sticks started Tuesday. I promise to get pics from Crazy Curves posted.
College has been stressful, I need to get in the groove of it. Please say a special prayer for me. I believe once I get a plan of how to get everything done,it will be ok
I'm still doing Weight Watchers,I've not been doing great but still slowly losing.I'm at 23 pounds, one of my things that I need to get a plan for.....
I have not been getting much sewing done. Picture This for my last class needs to have the back sewn together and be quilted.I hope to get sewing back into my life.I need it,that's why I need a plan so I'll not be stressed.
Till next time Happy Sewing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm Still Here!!!!!!

May has flown by.Like so many other bloggers life has just gotten so busy. It has been so long I don't know where to begin.

My sister Laura came for a short visit on Mother's Day weekend. She was here to work, but we found time to play. On Saturday we stopped by Randy's. Then we did the normal things fav eating places, stores etc........

On Sunday She helped me with a prayer quilt for a special baby Taylor Jordan Lilly. This was a quilt that was not completed from my very first beginning quilting class, I had forgot about. God always helps us, for I didn't know about the need till Sunday at church. Ran home and thought how am I going to get this done. Then remembered the quilt. Took it that nite and it then was taken to her after the Church prayed over it. God has been answering Prayers For Taylor. Please stop by an say a prayer for her.

Eclipse

This quilt was also pieced in April. I tried a new quilting design with this one. A small flower. This quilt will be the July quilt class.

Pickety Sticks

I've been piecing backs of quilts lately, a great stash buster. 4 yards plus 1/2 yard for binding.

I have finished Pickety Sticks!!!!!!!!! I had pieced and had back ready in April. Put it on frame and had to Do lots of ripping. It is one of my favorite quilts that I've made. I think it looks like the ocean. This will be the class for June.

Kristie is having an 300th Anniversary

Kristie is having a great giveaway. Stop by and let her know I sent you.

Marion,Kentucky

This is an old drugstore that was connected to the restaurant we ate lunch at while in Marion,Ky.The owners Mom said "the owners of drugstore locked the doors one day and left everything."It was very neat to see all the antiques. They still use all the soda fountain stuff. The food was very good.We met the mom of cafe first at an antique store on down the street where I got this old quilt top. I think the reason why it is a top is a beginner must have done it. Points don't match and it has pleats in it to make it fit. I love it!!!!!!!!!!! Not the best photo, but the wind was not helping me. I guess it could be raining.
This is from one of the antique shops. All the rooms were set up like rooms of a house. Did I mention Marion has an Amish Settlement. We visited Ella's quilt shed,a bakery, a rug maker, and a general store. I loved the ride thru this area.

Ready for a ride thru the countryside?

Paduch Quilt Show Heaven

I spent last week(Monday-Saturday) with my Mom and sister Laura, plus our limo driver aka Jerry...........Laura's hubby. This is the second time we have been able to come. It's a trip all quilters need to make. It is heaven for quilters. You need a budget when you come, because You want everything. You see demo's on all kinds of products, sewing machines, longarms etc............Plus every pattern you could ever want. Fabric of every kind. Hancock's of Paducah is a must stop. And let us not forget quilts like you have never seen. The talent is amazing. Lots of famous quilters are there in the different booths. Quilt In a Day store is a must stop and Eleanor Burns also has the fair grounds set up with tents full of $4.00 fabric, plus all of her products. She has quilts hung in the big barn and does a skit promoting her new books. This from last year,Mom and Laura, to my disappointment this was not here. The whole trip I said "I wanted to be the skinny quilter"Lol
Even the cows get dressed for the quilt show. The town is a nice place to visit with all the shops.

This is Patti's.............pie heaven. It's a stop that all quilters need to make.Patti's Settlement has shops, gorgeous gardens, antiques and dining. We went last year.so it was a must gotta go again.

Pilot Mountain

I think this is a beautiful place. It is a great place to spend the day. My girls loved coming here when they were little. It was their idea to spend the day here as a girl's day.
Joni and Tanya Joni and me acting silly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a pose.

Tanya making sure we don't take the wrong path!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had so much fun. It's always good to spend time with my girls. They are two of the most important things in my life. They seem to always bring out the best in me.

Can You Say Stressed!!!!!!!!!!

It's been a whole week since I last posted. I've been sick with my allergies, doctor has changed my meds twice. I'm feeling better not completely well, but thankful for better. I'm also going to school, getting ready for college this fall, and getting ready for Paducah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As many of you know I'm teaching a few quilt classes, so I have Pickety Sticks and Eclipse ready for the quilter. I started Pickety Sticks last week and Eclipse on this past Saturday. For the past two days I've been getting the backing and batting ready for the quilter. I have to say I do like the pieced backing I did for both. It was a great way to use up stash fabrics, because I seldom buy more than a yard unless I want it for a border. It sure beats going out and buying large amounts of fabric. I even pieced some batting for the Eclipse quilt. I better get off here, school is bright an early. Not used to getting up early, it's amazing how quick you can get out of the habit.

Started School Today!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you remember what you liked about the first day of school? The new book bag, notebooks, pens, and pencils.................. I went today and did my placement test. I did well on everything, but math. I knew I would need help in that area. I will go 3 days a week till my math is up to college level. I go on Wednesday to see about setting up fall classes. Wish me luck.
I finished my bom 1 day early. I must say I like this bom better than last year's bom. I finished this in less than 2 hours. It would take me 5 or 6 on last year's, plus it wasn't never the right size. That may be why I still need to do 4 of the blocks.

Back from Charleston

People, Places and Quilts is one of my favorite shops. The people are so friendly. I always go to both of their shops. Sometimes more than once while in town. This is a picture of the one in Charleston. I also go to the one in Summerville.

This is the nice girl in the Charleston store.
Here's the owner Diane, she is always smiling. They have lots of goodies. So plan to spend some time in both of these shops. Love all the fabric, they have Amy Butler to a large selection of civil war. I get lots of goodies from fabric to gadgets. This time I got the 2 1/2" / charm ruler, 2 Charm packs, 3 patterns, and a book by Denyse Schmidt.

This is out in front of a house in Summerville. You think you have went back in time. I could live here.
Can you say WELCOME HOME...... I took this while strolling down the street.

Silly Woman

Joni Mac said...
Wow nice work Silly Woman! I love you. I have to say these are all nice but the orange one is my favorite! :)

This is why I'm Silly Woman. This is an example of what my girls say to me. That's how my name came about. People are amazed by the name of my blog because normally I'm reserved. It's a little out of character but you do remember it.

My New Bag

Today has been very busy. I'm off to Charleston tomorrow. I needed a new bag for the trip,I wanted to use my New Girl bag.....But my Mom and Sister wouldn't let me. They are our bags for Paducah. That's ok I made a new one for this trip.................

I guess I need to get off the computer since Tanya's car wouldn't start we had to go get her and I'm behind on getting ready to leave. For some reason I think the house has to be clean ( sometimes cleaner than when we are here) O well we all have flaws.....

Crazy Curves

I've not posted in few days because I've been quilting. I needed to get the quilt for my class in May done. I got this pack of fat quarters at Fast Threads while in Mississippi. I love black, white and red. This is the second quilt with the Crazy Curves pattern. This time I made a small quilt with extra blocks. I do hope this class makes.

I still have to bind the lap size one (55"x68") and quilt the small one it only measures 37"square. It is was so much fun making these. I'll will be taking them on Monday to Sewingly Yours. On Tuesday I'm going to Charleston with Gary!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait.

Quilting Done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's 1:00a.m. on Monday nite. I have just finished all the quilting and binding. Then I remembered my promise of pillow cases to match Joni's quilt, the turning twenty. I'll do that tomorrow.

Doubledipity

This is a closeup of quilting. It's such a busy quilt that I thought stippling was a good choice. Can you say ugly fabric. It made great stack n whacks.

Radiant Sun Closeup of quilting. I love this quilt. black,white, and pink.I had promised this quilt for Christmas of 2006. Can you say late. I did make the orange curtains and buy matching sheets for Christmas 2007. My excuse was I worked a full-time job plus I was not wanting to use my new quilter.{ my 2006 Christmas gift}
Closeup of border and quilting. Joni loves orange. This was my second set of fat quarters, the first set were ugly. Quilt as based on the border fabric which also happens to be a fav fabric. We love paisley fabric.
