Trip to Las Vegas

We had a wonderful time in Vegas...It is the town that never sleeps. We were up 22 hours the first day we got there. No sleep for us ....we wanted to do everything. This is Moma in front of one quilt store. Yes Vegas has quilt shops. Four are in the valley and this on is in Boulder City(I think that is the name of town) We took a 5 Shop Hop.The quilt shops were so nice.
You know I had to get a pic of this...the food was very good. Plus the were open after 10 pm.

Sorry the pic needs flipping and not sure how. This is Me, my Moma,Susan (how great tour guide) and Edith our new friend and Richard her husband was our photographer.

This is Old Vegas ....one of my favorite places we went. At nite there is a light show in the overhead canopy. This is must stop on a trip to Vegas.

This is the Luxor.....It was nice.....not that we spent any time there.

Gary and I at Margaritaville.....I love this place...I like to go to the one in Myrtle Beach SC. Hope to post more pic from the trip, but I need to go pick Zack up at the train station.

Snow in The Carolinas

This is me out taking pictures...with no make-up. I am sick with some kind of bad cold, this cold air is helping me get well. I have never thought I looked like my Mom,but I do in this picture. I love you Mom!!! I started my blog for my Mom to be able to see my quilts and anything else that she needed to see. This my new baby.....a MINI COOPER. I traded my Yarius on Saturday,I loved that car ,but wanted power windows....I was going to get another one,but Gary said "pick something else." I did what he wanted.Joni says it is a clown car. I have to say I love it already even though it has been in the driveway since Saturday because of all the rain and snow.
Kitty did not like the snow...Sasha really did not like it see her in the door. Sasha is my grandpup.

Scooby loved the snow. You would have thought him and Toby were two kids playing in the snow. See the snow on his face.

Toby, my other grandpup had a great time. He had to be made to come inside. He is covered with snow......from running and playing in it.

My front yard and the neighbor's house.

Out back of the house.

This was the view out the french doors this morning. We got between 3-5 inches of snow last nite.

This was the view when I went to bed last nite. It was beautiful while it was snowing. This morning was so bright and white....then it melts and becomes a huge mess.I need to get off here Gary has cooked chili Frito's for us tonite. I was going to cook, but he thought I would get everyone sick.

Quilty Things

This is the latest Prayer Quilt that I have made. You may remember the 2 that were made last year for the precious little girl babies, Reagan and Taylor. We have another baby girl born early. Christianna is the owner of this quilt....does it not scream baby girl. I have to say I love this quilt even though we all know I love bright colors. The pattern came out of the latest issue of Quilt ..Garden Gate Splendor is the pattern. I always want to make at least 2 or 3 in each issue. Maybe baby quilt size is the answer. It is washed and ready to go to the hospital.

This is Fresh Linens for an up coming class. This is a fun quilt made with charm packs and a jellyroll. The pattern is by Heather Mulder Peterson of Anka's Trasures. She is one of my favs.
Close up of the quilting.

I quilted this for a customer. I also put the binding on this ,but have no pic of that.

This is another one that I quilted for a customer. I always love Black and White quilts.

This is my new bible cover made completely of scraps.I just pieced odd sized pieces together and this is the result. I have to say it turned out very good.

Dresdan Bloom Class

This was a class that I taught a few weeks ago. This is the Dresdan Bloom pattern, you may remember the sample a few months ago. I love to see all the combinations of colors. That is my favorite part of a class. Seeing how different every one's looks. The girls had a great time. The black background gives this one an artsie look.
The purple and yellow on the calico background gives this an 30's feel.

I loved the 2 colors in this one. This is a very girlie dresdan.

This one is one of my favorites.....I cannot lie I wanted all of them to go home with me. For some reason this was not an option....for the life of me I do not know why.

The Beach in January

This was the view from our balcony on Saturday morning. It was gorgeous. This was the second picture I took. It was so peaceful. It looks like it was going to be a warm day at the beach....it was windy and freezing.
This is Joni, Tanya and me. We are out shopping while the guys golf. Robin is taking the pic.

This is at the DISNEY store....you know how I love Mickey.

This was in the candy store. That is gumballs in the bottom of the table.

This is the right size Margarita. LOL

My partners in crime. We loved this trip. We girls left every morning to do as we pleased. The guys spent their time at the golf course.

Tanya and Robin at the barn...they are so funny. Did I mention it was freezing!!!

Joni and I pretending we are at the warm beach......check out the coconuts.

Strip Search

Here is the Strip Search Quilt. I loved making this quilt. It took 1 noodle(Hancock's version of a jellyroll) or 39 2 1/2" strips. I did learn a lesson....no more precut strips from Hancock's. I love the colors, but this roll was 2 1/4" strips. I had to change the pattern to make it work. Instead of 10 1/2" and 12 1/2" squares, I cut 8 1/2" and 10 1/2" squares. It still is a beautiful quilt. The back is strip pieced. I hate dealing with large pieces of fabric. Plus it uses up fabric that I wonder what was I thinking.
Here is a block made out of the right size strips. This will give my students an idea of the true size of the block. It is totally made from strips that are in my scraps strips. I cut strips from all the remaining fabric when cutting out quilts and have them ready for projects.

Koozies made from headliner fabric. I have to say these are easy and useful. I also have Modern Art With Fabric top is finished and hanging at the Sewingly Yours. After my class in February I will bring it home and quilt it.I forgot to take pictures. I will take a picture next time I go.

Christmas in the Carolinas

Christmas Eve was spent with my family. This was a special Christmas because my Mom and Sidney were here for the holiday. The girls were here also with their boyfriends. I love spending time with my family. We opened gifts and had dinner, then Tanya, Joni, Mom and me started our baking for Christmas dinner. On Christmas our friends Robin, Joe, and Kevin came for dinner. After dinner the guys went golfing and the girls went to the movies. Joni and Jd went to Charlotte to have Christmas with his family.
